Fair inquiry into Gargi incident necessary: DUSU

New Delhi, Feb 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) A delegation of Delhi University Students' Union met the Principal, professors and college union members of Gargi College and called for an inquiry into the molestation incident that took place during a recent annual college fest.

"DUSU asked the Principal to initiate speedy enquiry into the events of 6th February, 2020 and take strict action," a statement by DUSU said on Monday.

The DUSU has written to the Principals of all DU colleges and has asked them to ensure security of students in college fests to prevent such incidents in future.

Akshit Dahiya, President, DUSU and Pradeep Tanwar, Vice-president, DUSU, in a joint statement, said: "Delhi University administration and Delhi Police, both, must act to ensure that female students feel safe and secure within the University premises."

The students of Gargi College on Saturday alleged that some "drunken men" -- said to be pro-CAA demonstrators -- had entered the women's college campus and misbehaved with students.

"Girls were groped, locked in washrooms, stalked to the nearby Green Park metro, cat-called, eve-teased and misbehaved with during the festival," read the blog of one of the students of Gargi College.
