Bhim Army to intensify anti-CAA agitation in UP

Varanasi, Feb 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad has announced that he would now intensify the ongoing agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Chandrashekhar, who was in Varanasi to attend the Ravidas Jayanti celebrations at Seer Govardhanpur on Sunday, told reporters that, "No court has barred me from holding agitation. In a democratic set-up, I am free to go anywhere I want. I am frequenting Shaheen Bagh (in Delhi) and Bhim Army volunteers are there for the security of women protesters."

He said: "We are ready to launch a massive agitation against CAA and NRC in UP. The chief minister, who threatens to speak not with words, but bullets, must know that those sworn to save the Constitution are not afraid of bullets."

Azad said he wanted for a government of 'Bahujans' in the state. "I promise you that in 2022, the state will get a CM from Bahujan society," he said.

Replying to a question, he denied that his visit had any political overtones.

"Those who feel that we are deriving political mileage from such events are actually insulting over 30 crore followers of Sant Ravidas. I have come to seek blessings of Sant Ravidas for peace, prosperity and harmony in the country," he added.

Incidentally, Chandrashekhar was at a roadside restaurant when the convoy of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was also in Varanasi on Sunday, passed by. Priyanka saw Chandrashekhar and called out to him. She waved at him and asked, "Theek hain" before moving on.
