New Delhi, Feb 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Congress has alleged that during the 5-year tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the water supply network was increased by only two per cent in the national network, while the Congress government from 1998 to 2013 provided water supply to 81 per cent of the population.
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit alleged that "the AAP could only give two lakh connections in five years as against the Congress, which, when it left the power had already given 19.5 lakh connections. And presently, there are 21.5 lakh water connections. This shows that the claims being made by Kejriwal, that he has provided 99 per cent water, is false."
Dikshit claims that when the Congress came to power, Delhi used to get only 400 mgd water, which was enhanced to 906 mgd in 2013 through the Wazirabad plant.
He said, apart from the drinking water, the sewage system was also in a pathetic condition presently. Comparing with the Congress regime, he said the capacity of the sewage treatment plant used to be 613 mgd, but it has now come down to 607 mgd.
"This means that the sewage water is going either in Jamunaji or underground, which will affect the health of the Delhiites in the longer run," said Dikshit.
