Chennai, Jan 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) Over 150 rural development organisations from 18 states have gathered here at an event to share their success experiences and exchange ideas on holistic rural development, said the founder of Mission Samriddhi, a social impact platform.
He also said, the Indian rural sector can contribute $1 trillion to the nation's economy.
Speaking to reporters here on the side lines of the 8th Summit of Mission Samriddhi Arun Jain, founder and catalyst said the three day summit will see over 150 organisations sharing their experiences in building capacities in rural populace in various areas.
If proper guidance and platform are provided to the 900 million strong rural populace then they can easily contribute about $1 trillion to the nation's economy, adds Jain.
The summit will also have the participation of stakeholders from the government, non-governmental organisations (NGO), corporates and others, he said.
Jain and other speakers said scaling up was one issue faced by the rural entrepreneurs and self-help groups.
According to Jain, it is not right to expect the successful rural entrepreneurs to focus only on the local or regional market and assistance should be provided for them to scale up.
Some of the notable participants are W.R.Reddy, Director General, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Siddharth Tripathy, Commissioner rural Development, Government of Jharkhand and S.M.Vijayanand, Former Chief Secretary of Kerala.
