Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial Shikara marks the debut of two newbie, Sadia and Aadil Khan, who calls working with the veteran filmmaker a life changing experience.
Shikara is helmed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film is based on the Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir, starring Aadhil Khan and Sadia.
Talking about working with the filmmaker during a special review event, Aadil Khan said, “I don’t know how this has happened, and I would like to speak on behalf of me and Saadia, working with Vidhu Vinod Chopra has just changed our lives and he has also changed us as human beings. He is an institution and being around him is a constant learning”
“Vidhu Chopra saw some tapes of mine and then he called me, and asked me to meet him in his office. That’s the first time I came to know that I auditioned for Vidhu sir, before that I had no clue for whom I auditioned. I was really nervous and my legs were shaking before meeting him. So when I met him for the first time, he ran my first tape, and told me I was bad and didn’t know how to act”
“And I was wondering why did you call me then? Then he kept running a ten second section and kept asking me what do you see, unfortunately I couldn’t figure out what he was asking as I wasn’t doing anything during that particular time in the tape. So he said, you blinked your eye and that was the most honest thing. It took us two and a half year to make this film and I am grateful to him” added Aadil.
Makers of the upcoming historical-drama Shikara, has released 2 trailer, which reflects the alarming conditions of 1989 when Kashmiri Pandits had to leave the Valley.
Newbie Sadia was overwhelmed with emotion and said, “Thank you everyone for coming here. I am really speechless right now, I don’t know what to say, I really want to thank each and every one of you here”.
Shikara brings back the untold story of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley of 1990 and has 40,000 real migrants of Jagti and other camps, which were shot for the film. The movie also has actual footage from the exodus.
