Last year, SLB announced his most ambitious project, Inshallah, starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt but due to some unknown circumstances the film got shelved. Post that SLB confirmed the biopic on Gangubai with Alia Bhatt. The film is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Gangubai Kathiawadi, a brothel owner and matriarch
In December, Alia Bhatt also announced the release date of Gangubai Kathiawadi. She wrote, “Look what Santa gave me this year.” The film will hit the screens on 11th September 2020.
Apart from Gangubai, actress Alia Bhatt is also with much awaited Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor, helmed by Ayan Mukerji.
