New Delhi, Jan 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) here on Tuesday condemned the Sunday's JNU campus violence.
"The executive committee of the SCBA today (Tuesday) resolved to strongly condemn the violence against JNU students by anti-social elements. It further resolved to condemn the inaction on the part of Delhi Police, and called upon the authorities to act and ensure that the rule of law prevailed," the SCBA said in a statement.
On the Sunday evening, masked people went on rampage on the JNU campus leaving scores of students injured along with two teachers. The violence on the campus continued for more than three hours. JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh was among the injured and reportedly received over a dozen stitches on her wounds at AIIMS.
The Delhi Police are yet to make any arrest in the matter.
Meanwhile, a group of lawyers, comprising senior advocates like like Sanjay Parekh, Prashant Bhushan, Salman Khurshid and Kamini Jaiswal, read out the Preamble to the Constitution in unison at the Supreme Court lawns.
During the meeting of lawyers, copies of the Preamble were distributed, and the gathering dispersed after reading the Preamble together.
Bhushan said it was a unique protest by lawyers when constitutional values were being trampled upon.
