Ram temple should be built by religious leaders: Digvijaya

Bhopal, Jan 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rajya Sabha MP and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh has said that the Ram temple at Ayodhya should not be constructed with government funds.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, the Congress leader said that all Hindus consider Lord Ram as reincarnation of God and would contribute to the temple construction.

Taking a potshot at Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Singh said that it should keep the funds collected in the name of temple construction for itself or use it for eradicating social evils.

Digvijaya's tweets came just a day after his spiritual guru Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati of Sharda Pith gave a similar statement.

In another tweet, Singh said that the Ram temple should be constructed under Hindu religious leaders and not by organisations run by political parties.

"Lord Ram belongs to everyone and the responsibility of constructing the temple on the Janma Bhoomi should be given to the Ramalaya Trust only," Singh said.

He said that the Ramalaya Trust includes all Shankaracharyas and members of Akhada Parishad linked to Ramanandi community. Swaroopanand Saraswati is the head of this trust as he is the senior most religious leader.

The Supreme Court in November 2019 had ruled that Ram temple will be constructed at the Ram Janmabhoomi site and Muslims will be given an alternate 5 acre land for mosque.
