Protocol violations at Kerala Guv’s meet: Kannur VC

Kannur (Kerala) Dec 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Kannur University vice chancellor Gopinath Raveendran on Sunday admitted that there were protocol violations at the inauguration of the 80th Indian History Congress where Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan was in attendance on Saturday.

Speaking to the media, Raveendran said that historian Irfan Habib's speech was not listed in the programme.

"Several things that took place at the governor's meeting were in violation of the protocol. Habib's speech was not listed in the schedule," said Raveendran.

On Saturday, speaking after Habib, Khan reiterated that he has been calling the protesters for a meeting but none came forward.

"When you shut the door for debate and discussion, you are creating a culture of violence," said Khan and added they were not coming forward to discuss as they were afraid.

Soon a few delegates from the audience, mostly from North India raised a banner of revolt and with that Khan stepped up his response.

An angry Habib was seen jostling with the security aides of the Governor.

Later Governor directed Raveendran to meet him with the visuals of the inauguration.

The Governor on Saturday faced angry protests from a section of students at the event for defending the Citizens Amendment Act (CAA).
