Rafi fans tweet tributes to legendary singer on birth anniv

Mumbai, Dec 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Twitterati on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to late singing legend Mohammed Rafi on his 95th birth anniversary.

One fan wrote: "Remembering #MohammedRafi on his 95th birth anniversary. He was widely considered to be one of the greatest and influential singers in the Indian subcontinent. He received six Filmfare Awards and one National Award. He was awarded the Padma Shree in 1967. Tribute to the legend."

One fan remarked: "It's a timely reminder to andhbhakts that almost all popular and memorable 'bhajans' and 'deshbhakti' songs were sung by Rafi Sahib."

"Celebrating the 95th birth anniversary of the greatest singer ever born. #MohammedRafi," gushed another fan of the late playback singer.

"'Kya hua tera wada', 'Chaudhvin ka Chand', 'Aaj kal tere mere pyar ke charche' are not just songs: They are places where our hearts belong. When we listen to them we smile, we cry, we sing along. Remembering the legend who left a lifelong impression," tweeted one fan.

One user wrote: "Tributes to #MohammedRafi... in a singing career spanning 35 years, Rafi is regarded as the greatest playback singer of Indian cinema."

Rafi was born on December 24, 1924 in Kotla Sultan Singh in Amritsar district of undivided Punjab. He died on July 31, 1980, in Mumbai.
