Only 3-4 percent pay taxes so others don’t have the right to protest says Kangana on CAA protest

Actress Kangana Ranaut, who is a staunch supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government has reacted on nation-wide intense protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She firstly said that only 3-4 percent of the entire population pays their taxes and remaining population is dependent on it. She added that it’s not a good thing to do protests which used to be a cool case in pre-independence era. She supported BJP government by saying that they are just doing their work by fulfilling their promises which they mentioned in their election manifesto.

Kangana Ranaut was interacting with the media at the trailer launch of ‘Panga’ along with her co-actor Jassie Gill, music composers Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa, and director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari on Monday in Mumbai.

When entire country has come together against BJP’s divisive politics but Kangana isn’t wasting a single opportunity to support Narendra Modi government, reacting on nation-wide protests against CAA which turned violent in certain parts of the country, Kangnana said that only 3-4 percent pays taxes and remaining population is dependent on it, she said, “I feel when you protest against something then you should take care that it should not turn into a violent protest. In our country, only 3-4 percent people out of our entire population pay taxes and remaining population is dependent on that tax so, what gives you right to burn buses and trains? And to create ruckus in the country? I feel that should be looked into because each bus costs for 70 to 90 lakh and it’s not a small amount. Today our country’s condition is not good because people are dying because of hunger and malnutrition so, it’s not reasonable for people to indulge in violence.”

Kangana added by saying that it’s not a good thing to do protests because it used to be cool thing only in pre-independence era, she said, “I personally feel that in the name of democracy we are still hung on to pre-independence era. When our country was ruled by armed people (Britishers) then during that period, it was understandable that we used to protest against them, shut down the entire country and didn’t agreed to pay taxes and this used to be a cool thing during those times. But now in a democracy, you haven’t elected your leader from Italy or Japan. You have elected your leader amongst you, who have come from grass root level."

To support her argument she gave her own example, she said, "You can say to me that it was your luck that your two or three films did well. But I am sustaining in this industry since last 10-15 years so, you have to give me a credit that I am here on my own merit.”

Kangana supported decision of BJP led government to implement CAA by saying that they are just fulfilling their promises which they mentioned in their pre-election manifesto and it’s also part of democracy, she said, “They (Bhartiya Janta Party) had written in their (election) manifesto that when they will come in power then they will pass certain bills and now when they have power and they are doing what they have mentioned in their manifesto then isn't that a democracy? So, this shouldn’t happen. You can’t be a sore loser. There is a lot to say but its better that we don’t drift into another direction."

‘Panga’ is directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and produced by Fox Star Studios.

The film features Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill, Richa Chadda, Neena Gupta and Yogya Bhasin.

The film is set to theatrically release in India on 24 January 2020.
