Turkey issues detention warrants for 88 over suspected coup links

Ankara, Dec 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) Turkish prosecutors on Friday issued detention warrants for 88 people, including 40 soldiers, over their alleged links to a group accused of orchestrating a coup attempt in 2016.

Police launched simultaneous operations in 33 provinces across the country to catch the suspects upon the order of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in the western city of Izmir, reports Xinhua news agency.

So far, 52 of the suspects have been detained. There were no further details on the detentions.

The Ankara government blames the US-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen and his network for the coup bid in July 2016, in which 250 people were killed.
