MP Assembly Winter Session adjourned sine die


Bhopal, Dec 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) The winter session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly ended abruptly on the fourth day with Speaker Narmada Prasad Prajapati adjourning the House sine die amid noisy scenes.

Five sittings were scheduled during the week-long session that was meant to continue till Monday.

After some bills and reports were hastily tabled the Speaker adjourned the House on Friday.

Members of the Opposition reached the well of the House and created uproar during the question hour over reports of Additional chief secretary Gauri Singh seeking voluntary retirement.

Before the Speaker adjourned the House, former minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargava and former parliamentary affairs minister Narottam Mishra accused the government of harassing IAS officers.

"If this is the state of IAS officers one can imagine the plight of other employees," the leaders said.

The Opposition accused the government of working under pressure from mid-day meal mafia. Public Works Minister Sajjan Singh Verma and Finance minister Tarun Bhanot who responded to the charge said the officer was transferred after she issued orders for reservations in the forthcoming panchayat institutions without the government's approval.

Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Kamleshwar Patel said, "Reservation in panchayat election is not constitutional and against rules. Ms Singh should have avoided issuing the orders without seeking the Chief Minister's approval." The Opposition, however, refused to be pacified.

Gauri Singh, a 1987-batch IAS officer has applied for VRS and state government has forwarded it to the Centre for approval.

Noisy scenes over issues of guest scholars, guest teachers and contract teachers also dominated the Zero Hour.

Higher Education Minister Jitu Patwari the government was committed to fulfil the promises made in the manifesto. An action plan has been drawn for such scholars and additional posts are being created. Sajjan Singh Verma announced that the war against adulteration would continue. The government will also continue its crackdown on the trade of spurious of fertilizer and seeds. A similar campaign will be waged against the toll mafia.
