Summary - The present society is reflected from all sides as the MeToo development is picking up energy and quickening at a relentless pace. With an ever-increasing number of predators being named, the whole circumstance has brought an alert up in the society we live in. What began as a charge has prompted ladies meeting up ground-breaking and solid in help for one another as sisterhood. State award-winning filmmaker Vidhu Vincent's film Stand up depends on the woman who conflicted with all chances of her life and how she endures significantly after a physical ambush.
Stand Up Story - Keerthi ( Nimisha Sajayan) is a stand-up comedy artist performing an act on stage, where she narrates her friend Diya's story. Diya (Rajisha Vijayan) is assaulted in a condo and is marked as a victim. Stand Up discloses to us her voyage from a victim to a survivor. The film is a ground-breaking take, moreover, a lady's take - on how the man-centric system looks for her silence. There have been numerous movies in Malayalam that highlight subjects of rape, killings and rape vengeance. At present, a Bollywood film Mardaani 2 is also based on juvenile rape and killings. But Stand Up movie isn't about the person in question, yet it is about the life of the survivor. The subject of the film is Life After Rape, which is yet to be dealt with by any film in Malayalam.
Stand Up Analysis - Diya is the new age girl who keeps her beau's adoration and cares from being excessively engaged with her own freedom and will. Love it somewhat, yet Diya wouldn't like to bargain and supplant her very own objectives and desires. That is the reason Amal (Venkatesh) is attempting to accomplish sexual predominance in Dia. The film is gripping, although a few unwanted scenes in the second half where it tends to stretch could be chopped. The film particularly takes time to reach the climax. There are a couple of scenes which give you cheers and some which will make you shed tears.
Stand Up Star Performances & Technical - Rajisha Vinayan, Loving her in June and Finals was a small scale treat, hold up till she knocks your socks off in Stand Up. She is really perhaps the best actress in the business today and I totally hail her for taking up a film with such a subject. Nimisha Sajayan as Keerthy is basically heavenly. Her character is an eye-opener particularly in this current circumstance of our general public. Arjun Ashokan is a sprouting on-screen character who is raising his bars of acting to top, he is also great. Venkatesh's character appears to be repetitive like in numerous movies, however, he performed well with his given job. Music by Varkey is all around coordinated with the circumstances of the movie. Tobin Thomas is the cinematographer and Christy Sebastian behinds the editing.
Direction And Script - Vidhu Vincent and writer Umesh Omanakuttan tell an incredible, hard-hitting story which is propelled by the truth of our society and stands as a motivation for its ladies. I wish each lady who has been a casualty of eve-teasing, attack, assault, abusive behavior at home or provocation could get equity in our country. This is a film that each woman will relate to. The movie interfaces with the viewer inwardly, which is the place Vidhu Vincent scores as a director. This is a film, which will motivate ladies to not feel powerless or vulnerable, to stir the Goddess inside them and battle against an inappropriate.
Verdict - Vidhu Vincent's Stand Up Is A Relatable and Realistic Eye-Opener. This is a daring film that numerous people in this male chauvinistic society might find difficult to digest.
