No action against troublemakers for vote bank politics: Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata, Dec 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) Coming down heavily on the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Saturday accused it of not taking action against those indulging in arson and destruction of public property for the sake of 'vote bank' politics.

Ghosh's comments followed widespread violence in the state for the second day running as protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) spread to more areas with mobs torching buses, setting afire railway property and blockading roads and train tracks.

Ghosh said a 'particular community', which is an integral part of her (Banerjee's) politics, was indulging in violence.

"If she loses their votes, then the Trinamool Congress cannot win future elections," said the Lok Sabha MP from Midnapore.

He alleged that though the state has been in flames for a couple of days now, the police and the administration were nowhere to be seen.

"Where are the police, where is the administration? If the BJP tries to bring out a procession, the Rapid Action Force is deployed... We are lathi charged and cases are filed. Truckloads of people are arrested if we hold a sit-in or stage a demonstration.

"But in this case, the state has been on fire for a couple of days, public property is being destroyed, stations are being torched and vandalised. Why aren't the police swinging into action? They want this to happen in order to secure their vote bank," Ghosh said.
