Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone is a story based on real-life incident. The actress is playing the role of the real-life acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal, in the film.
The makers have decided to release the trailer on Dec 10, 2019, as the day is recognised as World Human Rights Day. The first official teaser for the film is out.

Chhapaak is directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Deepika Padukone and Meghna Gulzar in collaboration with Fox Star Studios. It also stars Vikrant Massey in the lead role. The film also marks Padukone's first project as a producer.
The film is a heart-warming and gut-wrenching story of trauma and triumph, and the unquashable human spirit. The story is about the act of acid violence which violates the life of victims both physically and mentally, thus, taking away their right to life.
The biopic, based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal of Delhi, will see Deepika in the lead role. This will be the first film of Deepika post her wedding. It is said that on hearing the story of Laxmi, Deepika was so moved that she decided to produce it as well.
Meghna, meanwhile, is on a career high with her film Raazi, starring Alia Bhatt in the lead. The film has turned gold at the box office, earning more than Rs 200 crores worldwide.
