Kochi, Nov 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Nine Indian fishermen, who arrived here, on a boat from Yemen will be cleared after emigration process is over, said an official on Saturday.
They travelled about 3,000 miles in the high seas and reached here on Friday after 10 days.
Speaking to IANS, Circle Inspector of Police attached to the Coastal Police, here, Chrispin Sam said that seven of them hail from Tamil Nadu, while two are from Kollam in Kerala.
"Their papers are in order and the emigration process is going on and once it's over, all of them will be allowed to go. Their relatives have also arrived," said Sam.
Sam added that these people came on a boat that belonged to their employer in Yemen as they were not happy with him.
"They started their voyage on the boat from there 10 days back. A few fishermen from Tamil Nadu informed their relatives about their journey and these relatives got in touch with Coast Guard and other departments. Since we got the information about their travel, the sea patrol teams were also alerted and this boat was spotted," said Sam.
"As soon as they were spotted, the Coast Guard officials got into the boat and took brought them to our station. Various departments have cleared them as all of them have valid papers. Once the emigration process is over, all of them will be released," added Sam.
According to officials, the nine fishermen had left in December last year and reached Yemen, but their employer treated them badly. Then they decided to escape from there.
