Delhi’s fiscal deficit rose 55 times under AAP: Report

New Delhi, Nov 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) The fiscal deficit in Delhi has increased 55 times in the last two years and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which made 70 promises to the people in 2015 has not fulfilled on 67 of these, a report claimed on Friday.

The report was jointly released by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, BJP Vice-presidents Shyam Jaju and Vinay Sahasrabuddhe at the Public Policy Research Centre here.

Addressing the press conference, Javadekar said the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi has not fulfilled 67 out of the 70 promises it made to the people.

Hitting out at the AAP government, the BJP leader said: "They came to power promising transparency in governance, but they themselves stalled 900 out of 1200 RTI applications."

Javadekar also blamed the Kejriwal government of taking credit for pollution mitigation and prevention of dengue without doing anything on the issue.

"For dengue control, the municipal corporations worked hard and made people aware. But later he claimed the credit for the same," he said.

On controlling air pollution, he said the Centre had constructed the eastern and western peripheral highway, due to which over 60,000 vehicles directly bypassed Delhi, thus helping in fighting pollution.

"But Kejriwal again gave big advertisements in newspapers that it was the AAP government which controlled the air pollution in Delhi," Javadekar said.

Javadekar also claimed that the fiscal deficit of the Delhi government has increased by 80 times in the past two years.

"They (AAP) made promises which were beyond their control like One Rank One Pension (OROP), full statehood to Delhi, among others," he added.

The elections for the 70 Delhi assembly seats are due early next year. The AAP had won 67 out of 70 seats in 2015 polls. The BJP was reduced to three seats while the Congress scored nil.
