New Delhi, Nov 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined urgent hearing on a plea, which accused the Shiv Sena of breaching the trust by aligning post-poll with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress to form the government in Maharashtra.
A Bench, headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde, declined to list the PIL filed by a political activist for urgent hearing. The lawyer representing the political activist submitted that the Sena had forged an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested the Assembly polls, but it cheated the citizens by later joining the parties it had opposed for years.
The court asked the lawyer to identify himself. "Who are you," asked the Bench after hearing him for a brief period. To this, the lawyer replied he was a citizen of the country.
The formulation of post-poll alliances was not barred under any law, the court observed.
On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis resigned hours after the apex court ordered floor test on Wednesday and its live telecast.
