Shahid Kapoor says he is looking forward to Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starring 83, as it has a wonderful subject but his forthcoming cricket drama is a very personal film.

Shahid Kapoor is currently prepping for his role in ‘Jersey’, which is slated for next year release. Apart from Jersey, Ranveer Singh starrer ‘83’ is also releasing next year which is about Indian cricket team’s victory at 1983 cricket world cup.
So when asked Shahid what he thinks about two films having a similar backdrop of cricket, he said, “One is aware that there are two cricket films coming out next year. There might be a third also, so we never know. ‘83’ is a wonderful subject and I wish all the best to the makers of that film. It’s about India’s triumph in 1983 Cricket World Cup and that’s something everybody wants to watch.”
Shahid said that his next film is about an emotional journey of a human being, he said, “‘Jersey’ is a very personal film. It’s a human journey and it touched me deeply. It’s very emotional film so, I am guessing both must have their own individual identity and I am definitely looking forward to see ‘83’."
When asked Shahid who is favorite cricket player, he said, “I have a lot of favorites. I think Sachin Tendulkar is everybody’s favorite. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the finest captains that we had and in current times, I think Virat Kohli is an inspiration to everybody. And special mention obviously to Yuvraj (Singh) for the fact that he fought cancer and came back, I think that’s very inspirational.”
The film will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who was also the director of the Telugu version of the film. The original film starred Nani.
