Special 'Midway' screening for Indian soldiers

Mumbai, Nov 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) A special screening of "Midway", Roland Emmerich's film about American sailors and pilots who changed the course of World War II during the Battle of Midway in June 1942, was arranged for Indian armed forces.

"Midway", which opened this weekend, pays homage to the men who fought the Battle of Midway during World War II. In sync with the theme of the film, PVR Pictures organised a special screening for the defence forces in Mumbai and invited its officers and commanders, along with their families for the screening.

Written by West Tooke, "Midway" stars Nick Jonas, Luke Evans, Woody Harrelson, Patrick Wilson, Ed Skrein and Aaron Eckhart.

"What the Indian freedom struggle is to the Indians, is what the Battle of Midway is to the Americans. A movie that talks about the brave and intelligent men who used their instincts, fortitude and bravery to overcome the odds and lost their lives needs to reach every person in the country. By honouring our nation's Army men, we wanted to take it a notch higher and salute their courage and determination," said Kamal Gianchandani, CEO of PVR Pictures Ltd.

An officer after watching the movie said: "The movie connects to each and every soldier who has felt pressure of combat, and the rush of adrenaline in such conditions. The message, that sound leadership can snatch victory from jaws of defeat, is conveyed in an extremely vivid fashion in the movie. The special screening by PVR Pictures for defence personnel is deeply appreciated."

PVR Pictures released the film in India on November 8. The special screening took place two days before release.
