Rajkot, Nov 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Indian bowlers kept it tight in the final few overs to keep Bangladesh in check as they posted 153/6 in 20 overs in the second T20 international here on Thursday.
Wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/28.
Bangladesh were off to a great start riding their opener but once Liton Das (29) was dismissed and the visitors lost the next three wickets in quick succession, India reined in and conceded 41 runs in the last five overs despite Bangladesh skipper hitting a 21-ball 30 (4x4).
India skipper Rohit Sharma, playing his 100th T20 game, asked them to bat first after winning the toss.
Mohammad Naim, who was their top-scorer with 36, welcomed Khaleel Ahmed (1/44) with a hat-trick of boundaries in the second over as Bangladesh raced to 54/0 after six overs, albeit with help from stumper Rishabh Pant who messed up an easy stumping by collecting the ball in front of the stumps and giving away a no ball and a free hit.
In the sixth over of the Bangladesh innings, a tossed up Yuzvendra Chahal delivery beat Liton Das all ends up as he went down the track to take the aerial route.
The batsman failed to make any contact and Pant whipped off the bails but only for replays to show that the 22-year had left a little part of his gloves ahead of the stumps while collecting the ball.
It was, therefore, called a no-ball and the visitors got a free hit off which Liton hit two back-to-back to add salt to India's wounds.
Rohit also dropped Das but Pant made amends by running Das out for 29 in the 8th over to get India's first breakthrough and end the 60-run opening wicket stand between Das and Naim.
Naim holed out to Shreyas Iyer at deep midwicket off Washington Sundar in the 11th over and soon after, last match's hero Mushfiqur Rahim (4) was caught at midwicket by Krunal Pandya off Chahal who gave him a raucous sendoff. Soumya Sarkar was looking good for his 20-ball 30 but got out just at the right time for India as Pant stumped him correctly this time off Chahal.
Mahmudullah tried to up the ante in the end but Deepak Chahar sent him back.
Brief scores: Bangladesh 153/6 in 20 overs (Mohammad Naim 36, Yuzvendra Chahal 2/28) vs India
