Goa CM, Opposition leader mourn educationist priest’s death

Panaji, Nov 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Friday condoled the death of 93-year-old Jesuit priest and educationist Fr. Romuald D'Souza, who is known for founding the state's top B-school, the Goa Institute of Management (GIM).

Regarded as one of the state's top educationists, D'Souza, who was conferred with Padma Shri in 2010, passed away on Friday due to old age complications.

"Saddened by the demise of Padma Shri Fr. Romuald D'Souza. Founder of Goa Institute of Management, Fr. D'Souza will be remembered fondly for his vast contribution in the field of education. My heartfelt condolences," Sawant tweeted on Friday.

"Tributes to noted educationist Fr. Romualdo D'Souza. The pioneer of 'wellness counselling' will always be remembered for his untiring efforts enhancing the educational standards of Goa. His passing away has created a void in educational field. May his soul rest in peace," said Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat .

Following his death, the Goa Institute of Management, which he founded in 1993, tweeted: "A truly doting and vibrant personality, his undying spirit is what made GIM what it is today".

Apart from founding the GIM, D'Souza also served as the Director of the Xavier Institute of Management in Bhubaneswar besides serving as the President of the Association of Indian Management Schools.
