Windhoek, Oct 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) Namibia cricket team's legacy that was created by qualifying for the T20I World Cup scheduled in Australia in 2020, is set to inspire the growth of the sport in the country, Namibia's coach, Pierre De Bruyn said on Thursday.
The feat of qualifying for the maiden World Cup berth will inspire the country's youth from all corners, backgrounds and culture to pursue, love and try out cricket, De Bruyn said in a voice statement availed to Xinhua news agency by Cricket Namibia on Thursday.
According to De Bruyn, the youth in the country will look up to the men that created this opportunity and hopes cricket culture will be embraced by all.
"As a coach, I can only be proud of the team and can only continue to support them where I can," he said, adding that this year has been amazing, as the team achieved a number of milestones.
Cricket Namibia's newly appointed CEO, Johan Muller said it is an exciting time for the sport and behind the team's success, they are committed to making cricket accessible to all players in the country.
"We will be embarking on a roadshow from November 13, visiting 10 towns. The main aim is to build relationships, create structures and increase capacity," he announced on Thursday.
Meanwhile, despite Namibia already booked for the World Cup, on Friday they will face Papua New Guinea in the semi-final in Dubai, and Coach De Bruyn said the team will give its best as they want to win the overall tournament.
