Woods moves closer to record equalling win

Tokyo, Oct 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) Tiger Woods on Sunday took a three-shot lead at the rain-hit inaugural Zozo Championship and thus moved closer to a record equalling win. The 43-year-old carded 66 to take him 18 under par.

He is thus three-ahead of Hideki Matsuyama who holds a three-shot lead over Im Sung-jae and Gary Woodland.

Woods, who is making his first appearance since undergoing a knee surgery in August, is gunning for an 82nd PGA Tour title, which will move him level with Sam Snead's record. The 15-time major champion hit six birdies to keep himself ahead despite a tricky start on Sunday.

Play had to suspended early on Sunday due to bad light. The inclement weather meant that players had to start their fourth rounds as soon as they finish the third. Justin Thomas and Shane Lowry both carded 5 before close of play while Rory McIlroy managed 63 following a dismal opening effort of 72, and completed the top five.
