Amaravati, Oct 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) Andhra Pradesh will decide, after receipt of the expert committee's report, whether to go ahead with the development of Amaravati as the state capital or look for another location, Municipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said on Wednesday.
He told reporters in Visakhapatnam that the government will take a stand after the expert committee submits its report in six weeks.
He said the panel will visit various regions in the state and elicit people's opinion on the capital city. The committee will take into account the conditions in various regions and submit its report in six weeks. "The government will proceed based on the committee's report," he said.
He stated that the government will build a capital that will be approved by five crore people of the state. The government's desire is to develop all 13 districts in the state and make the capital city a role model for the entire country, he said.
The minister alleged that then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu took up development of Amaravati as the state capital in violation of rules. He slammed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief for carrying out, what he called carrying, false propaganda.
He said despite the financial crisis, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was fulfilling his promises and making efforts to streamline the system.
Satyanarayana alleged that Naidu during last five years failed to build even one permanent structure in Amaravati. He said Naidu's relatives and those close to him resorted to insider trading in the development of the state capital.
