Kolkata, Oct 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Decked in ethnic wear, her infectious smile adding to the festivities, World champion P.V. Sindhu on Wednesday said she is ready to "achieve a lot more" and come back here to take the blessings of Goddess Durga.
Rio Olympics silver medallist Sindhu became the first Indian to win gold at the world championships after a dominating win over Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in August. With 2020 Tokyo Games now less than a year to go, the ace shuttler is the hot favourite to win an Olympic gold, and will headline the country's medal hopes.
"I want to take Durga Maa's blessings and achieve a lot more. I love Durga Puja," Sindhu said on the sidelines of a marquee Durga Puja pandal event where she was invited as chief guest alongwith her parents and national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand.
"It is an auspicious occassion. I have never seen an idol this big and lively. It's a great feeling," Gopichand said as they were handed mementos and sweets by the organisers.
Sindhu's form dipped a bit as she made early exits from the China Open and Korea Open to slip to World No. 6 in the latest rankings. The 24-year old will now look to bounce back at the French Open World Tour Super 750 tournament starting in Paris from October 22.
