Hundreds plog for a clean India in 8 cities on Gandhi@150

Bengaluru, Oct 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Hundreds of people, young and old, boys and girls plogged to pick up litter, including plastics as the Swedish do and cleaned eight cities across the country to mark Gandhi Jayanti, a fitness brand cult-fit official said on Wednesday.

"To clean the streets while running is a fun way of ensuring our surroundings are neat while getting fit. We thank the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for associating with us in this novel initiative," said cult-fit head Naresh Krishnaswamy in a statement here.

Ploggers covered about 160km in eight cities -- Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai and Pune to pick up litter and plastic waste.

Fit India Movement also associated itself with the novel way of sprucing the cities.

Sports Secretary R.S. Julaniya lauded the fitness startup for participating in the state-run programme Fit India Plog Run, commemorating the sesquicentennial of Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948).

"Public-private associations like these can turn Fit India into a people's movement Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned," added Julaniya.

Bengaluru-headquarted cult-fit, founded in 2016 by Mukesh Bansal and Ankit Nagori, offers myriad combinations of activities amalgamating health.
