Los Angeles, Sep 28 (IANS) Actor Robert De Niro has come out to support the impeachment inquiry into US President Donald Trump.
"I hope he gets impeached, it has to be followed through," variety.com quoted De Niro as saying.
"He's such a low life... He taints everybody around him," he added.
De Niro is one of the most vocal critics of Trump. He famously greeted the 2018 Tony's telecast with the words, "F**k Trump", for which he received a standing ovation from the crowd.
"It's disgraceful with this guy. He has no center, no ethics, no morals. He's amoral, immoral," De Niro continued.
Director Spike Lee is also rooting for the ousting of Trump.
When the Oscar-winner was asked on who he liked for the 2020 presidential election, Lee said "Agent Orange, gotta go", referring to Trump.
De Niro was speaking at the New York premiere for the Netflix film "The Irishman" in the wake of the Democrats launching an official impeachment inquiry on Trump.
"The Irishman" brings back director Martin Scorsese, and the film reunites De Niro with Al Pacino for the fourth time after "The Godfather Part II", "Heat", and "Righteous Kill". The film is based on the 2004 memoir "I Heard You Paint Houses" by former investigator Charles Brandt.
The much-anticipated Netflix film shows how mob assassin Frank Sheeran (essayed by De Niro) on his death bed confessed that he killed union leader Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino). "The Irishman" will release on November 1 for a brief theatrical run. It will then go live on Netflix on November 27.
