టీడీపీ సీనియర్‌ నేత, చిత్తూరు మాజీ ఎంపీ శివప్రసాద్(68) కన్నుమూశారు. గత కొన్ని రోజులుగా కిడ్నీ సంబంధిత వ్యాధితో బాధపడుతున్న ఆయనను ఇటీవల చెన్నైలోని అపోలో ఆస్పత్రికి తరలించారు. వైద్యులు అత్యవసర విభాగంలో చికిత్స అందించినప్పటికి ఆయన శరీరం చికిత్సకు సహకరించలేదు. దీంతో కొద్ది సేపటి క్రితం ఆయన తుది శ్వాస విడిచారు.
2009లో టీడీపీ తరపున చిత్తూరు ఎంపీగా పోటీ చేసి గెలిచిన శివప్రసాద్.. 2014 ఎన్నికల్లోనూ ఘన విజయం సాధించారు. రాష్ట్ర విభజన సమయంలో, ఆ తర్వాత ఏపీకి ప్రత్యేక హోదా కోరుతూ పార్లమెంట్ ఆవరణలో వివిధ వేషాలతో తనదైన శైలిలో నిరసన కార్యక్రమాలు చేపట్టారు. ఇటీవల జరిగిన 2019 సార్వత్రిక ఎన్నికల్లో వైసీపీ అభ్యర్ధి రెడ్డప్ప చేతిలో ఓడిపోయారు. ఆరోగ్య సమస్యల కారణంగా శివప్రసాద్ గత కొద్దిరోజులుగా పార్టీ కార్యక్రమాలకు సైతం దూరంగా ఉంటున్నారు. కాగా ఆయన రంగస్థల, సినీ నటుడిగా కూడా అందరికి సుపరిచితుడే. కొన్ని సినిమాలకు ఆయన దర్శకత్వం కూడా వహించారు.
