Kerala cops look to beat the stress
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 18 (IANS) With Kerala Police coming under attack from several quarters for their behaviour, state police chief Loknath Behra has come up with ways to beat the stress that the police officials are facing.

In a statement issued here Behra said that these measures would have to be strictly practiced by all in the force and senior officials should ensure that this is done in all police stations.

"Those who suffer from stress should be identified and they should be sent to the police counselling centres so as to de-stress them and they should be given all the allowances and would be treated as part of their duty. Such centres should be set up in all the districts," said Behra's circular.

"All police stations should see that there are sessions for yoga, meditation, breathing exercises and senior officials should also take part in such sessions," added Behra.

Of late, the Kerala Police has come under attack for increasing lock up atrocities and also in the language that the police use when engaging with the public.

"Those officials who are found to be using rough language should be removed from duties where there is an interface with the public," added Behra.
