Bhubaneswar, Sep 11 (IANS) The Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Jharsuguda will soon have flight services to two more cities of the country, informed Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Wednesday.
Tripathy said the new flights from the airport will connect to Bangalore and Kolkata.
"Jharsuguda airport has five flight services at present. Two more flights will be introduced during the winter schedule, one to Bangalore and another to Kolkata," he said.
The government has also decided to provide additional fire services and police manpower at the airport.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the regional air connectivity held at the state secretariat here.
It was also discussed for the expansion of Rourkela and Jeypore airstrips.
"A tender of Rs 55 crore has already been completed for Jeypore airstrip project. The land acquisition process is on. A decision has been taken to construct terminal building, runways and taxi-ways," he added.
A review meeting with the district collector was also held for land acquisition of Utkela airstrip in Kalahandi district.
