Samsung Galaxy Note10+: Bring productivity to your palm

By Nishant Arora

New Delhi, Aug 25 (IANS) The premium smartphone segment in India is estimated to be between Rs 15,000-Rs 20,000 crore. In this segment, the industry is growing at 9-10 per cent (year-on-year) and Samsung, which is growing over 20 per cent in this premium space, has another reason to cheer: Galaxy Note10 and Note10+.

The South Korean giant received over 2 times the pre-booking orders for 'made in India' Note10 smartphones, compared to last year's Note9 pre-booking period, which shows the loyalty factor Note owners have towards this workhorse.

The 6.3-inch FHD+ Galaxy Note10 (8GB RAM+256GB memory and no microSD) is priced at Rs 69,999 while the bigger 6.8-inch Galaxy Note10+ (12GB RAM+256GB memory) with Cinematic Infinity Display will start from Rs 79,999.

The top-end variant of Note 10+ with 12GB RAM with 512GB internal storage (expandable up to 1TB) costs Rs 89,999.

We reviewed full HD+ Galaxy Note10+ (12GB RAM + 256GB memory). Let's see how it performs.

Before we talk about the slimmest design and top-end specs, make one thing clear: This device is not for the ordinary and can easily become your laptop on the go - for both your productive and creative workflows.

In simpler words: Productivity in your palm.

It offers Android 9 (Pie) operating system, 98 per cent colour and brightness uniformity (edge-to-edge Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display reduces blue light without affecting colour quality for comfortable viewing), handwriting to text feature, super-fast charging, 7nm intelligent processor to preload frequently used apps faster, improved Samsung DeX for PC, 'Link to Windows' for all your productivity needs, and lots more.

In just a few taps, you can format and share meeting minutes in editable documents with an enhanced S Pen.

For those who wear a thinking cap, S Pen and pro-grade camera will take your creativity to a new level.

The re-designed, uni-body S Pen gave content creators power to instantly convert handwriting into digital text in Samsung Notes, and export it to different formats including Microsoft Word in different languages like Hindi, even Hinglish.

You can now customize personal notes by shrinking, enlarging or changing the colour of the text.

The Galaxy Note10+ builds on the Bluetooth Low Energy-enabled S Pen capabilities sensor by adding Air actions or gesture control.

The new six-axis motion allowed us to control certain aspects of the device using gestures with the S Pen by detecting the direction and acceleration of our movements.

The Galaxy Note10+ extends Samsung DeX's capabilities, making it easier for users to work between their phone and a PC or Mac.

All you need is a simple USB-C cable. With a simple, compatible USB connection, you can drag and drop files between devices, and use favourite mobile apps with a mouse and a keyboard, while keeping data secure through Samsung "Knox".

Another great productive feature is when Galaxy Note10+ integrates "Link to Windows" directly into the "Quick Panel". You can mirror your entire phone screen on-to your PC.

In Galaxy Note10+, the real quad camera set-up houses a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP telephoto lens and a VGA DepthVision camera.

It also houses a 10MP selfie camera in the middle, giving the device a symmetrical shape unlike the Galaxy S10 series.

The photos clicked were good (though not exceptional) in nearly all light conditions.

One thing that old-timers will miss is the quintessential 3.5-mm headphone jack in Note10+ (also missing in the smaller sibling Note10).

Galaxy Note10+ is available in Aura Glow, Aura White and Aura Black colours.

The 4,300mAh battery with superfast charging technology (up to 45W wired charging capability) is a great improvement. With just 30-45 minutes of charge, Galaxy Note10+ lasted nearly a day.

With wireless 'PowerShare' feature, you can wirelessly recharge Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Buds or another Qi-enabled device the Galaxy Note10+.

For smooth gaming, the device features the world's slimmest vapour chamber cooling system, which delivered optimal performance during gaming.

Conclusion: If you're on Note9, it is a natural choice and if you have the budget to invest on a smartphone-cum-laptop, Note10+ is definitely worth trying.

Remember: No smartphone comes near the power and beauty this device offers in the top-end premium segment.

If you are in the Note family, nothing should stop you from an upgrade and take another step towards the lag-free and seamless experience.
