Woman detained for killing son, concealing body

Greater Noida, Aug 21 (IANS) A 24-year-old woman has been detained for allegedly killing her 8-month-old son and concealing the body in the house in the Jewar area, the police said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the child had gone missing from their house nine days ago. "We had received a missing complaint from the deceased's father Rohrash and mother Hema who alleged that their son, Deepak, had been kidnapped. On Wednesday morning, Rohrash and other family members noticed foul smell coming from the granary," said a senior police officer.

The family informed the police. During questioning, the police found Hema's behaviour suspicious. "In the sustained questioning, Hema confessed that she had concealed her son's body. Hema also said she was feeding animals outside when the infant allegedly fell off the cot and died," said a senior police officer.

To hide the incident from the family, she had concealed the body in the granary. The police recovered the body stuffed in a cement bag and sent it for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.

"We have got to know about her illicit affair and suspect that to the reason behind murder," the police said.
