Let us pray for human rights and peace in Kashmir: Mamata

Kolkata, Aug 19 (IANS) Observing World Humanitarian Day on Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that we must all pray for the restoration of human rights and peace in Kashmir.

"Today is World Humanitarian Day. Human rights have been totally violated in Kashmir. Let us pray for human rights and peace in Kashmir," Banerjee tweeted.

The state has been facing restrictions on normal everyday functioning since the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Human right is a subject close to my heart. In 1995, I was on the road for 21 days to protect human rights violations against deaths in lock-ups," Banerjee wrote.
