Canberra, Aug 19 (IANS) One of Australia's most wanted fugitives has been caught after over two years on the run following the murder of his brother at a shopping centre in Melbourne, police said on Monday.
Investigators had been searching for Jonathan Dick, 41, since February 2017 when his 36-year-old brother David Dick, was killed with a sword at the Westfield Doncaster - one of Australia's biggest shopping centres, the BBC reported.
The police has confirmed that Jonathan Dick was arrested after a fight in a laneway which allegedly involved him and two others in Melbourne's central business district (CBD) at about 7.50 a.m., on Monday.
Pictures published by local media showed him being led away from the scene with blood on his face.
Last year, the police issued a A$100,000 ($68,000) reward for information leading to his arrest.
Police at the time described the attack as "brutal", and issued a murder warrant for Jonathan Dick after he was identified in CCTV footage. They have not provided any information on motivation.
Dick was listed one of Australia's 10 most wanted fugitives and authorities had issued warnings to the public not to approach him.
