New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) A sharpshooter of the Abdul Naseer gang who was involved in a dozen of criminal cases, including four murders, was arrested from South Delhi, the police said on Sunday.
"The accused, identified as Ible Hassan, 38, presently a resident of Jamia Nagar, is the active sharp shooter of the Naseer gang. He had gone underground after a MCOCA case was registered against him and his gang," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Kumar Gyanesh said.
Hassan was arrested on Friday night from Abdul Fazal Enclave following a tip off. A country-made pistol was recovered from him.
According to the police officer, a native of Uttar Pradesh, Hassan wanted to lead the gang in the absence of Naseer who has also gone underground after the registration of a MCOCA case.
Hassan had joined the gang after meeting Naseer during his jail-term. On his release, Hassan joined the gang and with the help of Naseer's accomplices -- Hashim Baba, Bobby, Danish and others -- started extortion, gambling and land grabbing in the trans-Yamuna areas in south Delhi," he said.
He was arrested in 2015 on the charges of three murders, but on June 14 got released on bail.
