A strong weapon to its political rivals, particularly to the Congress party was given by the unusual decision of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to abstain from voting in Rajya Sabha during the passage of voting on the controversial triple talaq bill on Tuesday.
By supporting another controversial bill amending the Right to Information Act, the TRS had already proved a secret partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said the Congress party. The Congress said, “Now, by abstaining from voting in Rajya Sabha on the triple talaq bill, it is clearly proved that the TRS is hand in glove with the BJP.”
On Wednesday, Telangana Congress party’s minorities’ wing leader Sameer Walilullah accused the TRS of betraying the Muslim community on Triple Talaq Bill issue. All Muslim leaders in TRS should immediately resign from their posts, he demanded.
Sameer said, "Muslims of Telangana have trusted TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and voted for his party in the two assembly elections. They believed his claims that the TRS was a secular and anti-BJP party. Despite being warned by Congress party that TRS was a B-Team of BJP, they voted in favor of TRS candidates in general elections. However, TRS has betrayed the Muslims by supporting the BJP Government in passing the Triple Talaq Bill in Rajya Sabha by abstaining from voting.”
