Amaravati, July 27 (IANS) South Korean auto major Kia Motors will launch first car from its India plant in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district on August 8.
The company has invited Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for the launch of its first 'Made in India' car at the factory in Penukonda, the Chief Minister's Office said Saturday night.
Representatives of Kia motors have already met state government officials several times to discuss the Chief Minister's visit.
Kia President and CEO Han-woo-Park wrote to Jagan Mohan Reddy on June 13, recalling his association with Reddy's father and late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the CMO said.
Kia Motors had commenced trial production in January this year. The company had then announced that it invested $1 billion in the facility.
The state-of-the-art facility, which came up on 536 acres of land in a record time of 14 months, will manufacture 300,000 vehicles annually with the bulk of the capacity catering to domestic market.
