Kolkata, July 25 (IANS) A gallery dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi was inaugurated at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport here on Thursday to mark his 150th birth anniversary, an official said.
The Airports Authority of India in association with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti is establishing 'Gandhi Gallery: Mahatma Gandhi Interpretation Centre' at different airports across the country to propagate his ideals and principles.
"In this gallery, one could see Gandhiji's association with West Bengal which has been displayed in 24 panels. His association with local leaders, freedom fighters has been depicted. Also, Gandhiji's association with Rabindranath Tagore and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has been prominently displayed at the gallery," the official said in a statement.
Also, Sodepor Ashram, Noakhali Tour, his efforts to maintain communal harmony in 1946-47 have been displayed at the gallery.
"A digital kiosk has also been installed to conscientise the passengers on the life and times of Gandhiji. It also includes a quiz, films on Gandhiji and other information which would interest the younger generation," it said.
The gallery was inaugurated by West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi inside the domestic arrival hall of the terminal building.
