Delhi PCR employees rush 2 women in labour pain to hospital
New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) The Police Control Room (PCR) staff played Good Samaritans and helped two pregnant women and their family members reach hospitals, here on Wednesday.

They were unable to find an ambulance or auto-rickshaw to rush to the nearby hospital and called the PCR. They sought immediate medical help as the ambulance could not reach the spot on time. The PCR staff reacted promptly to the distress calls and rushed to the spots.

One woman gave birth to a baby girl in the police vehicle itself on way to the hospital, said a police officer.

In the first case, the PCR call was received at 9:47 a.m. regarding immediate medical assistance to a pregnant woman in Harijan Basti, Ashram Road, Delhi. As the ambulance could not be found, the police team decided to shift the woman in labour pain to the nearest hospital.

In another case, according to Deputy Commissioner Of Police (PCR) Shankar Choudhary, "a call regarding requirement of immediate medical assistance to a pregnant woman near Shiv Mandir, Kapashera, Delhi, was received by the PCR staff. They rushed to the spot and found woman in labour pain."

The woman gave birth to a baby girl in a PCR van, while she was being taken to Safdarjung Hospital. The mother and the child were later admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.
