Coffee table book on Guru Nanak Dev released

Chandigarh, July 24 (IANS) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday released the first volume of a state government coffee table book on the 550th Prakash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev.

The coffee table book, released in the presence of the council of ministers, consists of 70 pages that vividly depict the special events being held from November 2018 to June 2019 as part of the celebrations.

The events listed include the Kartarpur Corridor foundation laying, as well as various other infrastructural development works dedicated to the historic occasion.

Various projects launched by the state government have been highlighted in the publication.

These include Pind Babe Nanak Da, Bebe Nanaki College for Girls, state-of-the-art auditorium, planting of 550 saplings in every village, Nanak Bagichi, Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana and the cleaning of the holy Kali Bein.

The book also highlights other activities and programmes seeking to propagate the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev amongst the people through seminars, debates and conferences, kavi darbars, essay writing competitions, weekend league sports, etc.

Other special attractions include commemorative medallions, documentary movies and plays, Gurmat Sangeet Sammelan, songs, debates and poetry, quiz contests, Rabab Utsav and Dastaar Bandi.

The coffee table book also gives an account of book fairs on the life and philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev ji, besides rare manuscripts.
