Pakistan to ensure banned outfits don't get skins of animals sacrificed during Eid

Rawalpindi, July 22 (IANS) Pakistan has asked the country's police to ensure that skins of animals sacrificed during Eid al-Adha do not fall into the hands of banned organisations.

Collecting hides of animals sacrificed during Eid for charity purposes is a multi-million dollar enterprise. Every year, several seemingly legitimate organisations, operating as fronts for terrorist outfits, carry out coordinated plans to collect animal hides from households and mosques.

This year, Eid falls on August 1. According to an Express Tribune report, Rawalpindi Police Chief Faisal Rana this week asked officers in his team to arrest members of banned organisations and those listed in the Fourth Schedule, a section of the Anti-Terrorism Act under which terror suspects are kept under observation, who try to get their hands on animal hides.
