New Delhi, July 14 (IANS) Golfer Shubhankar Sharma showed his mettle and resilience to recover from a two-bogey start to end the round with a score of 67 (4-under par) at tied 50th position in the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
Austrian Bernd Wiesberger consolidated on his brilliant round 2 performance and established a two-shot lead at the top of the leaderboard after a round of 65 (6-under par).
Sharma got off to a shaky start as he carded bogeys on the first two holes. Recovering fast, Sharma came back with birdies on the 4th, 5th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th and 16th holes, making it seven in total.
Unfortunately, the last hole which has turned out to be one of the trickier ones got the better of him. A bogey on the 18th hole made sure Sharma only ended with a score of 67(4-under par) and a total of 204 (9-under par) at the end of round 3.
On his way to the brilliant fight back, Sharma holed a 15-footer on the 10th for a birdie and then on the 13th a 50 degree wedge to three feet from almost 120 yards for a birdie.
Wiesberger was in scintillating form and continued on his merry way as he ended round 3 with 7 birdies and just one bogey on the 17th hole. At the end of the round, Weisberger had a two-shot lead over South African Erik Van Rooyen. Weisberger's total score is 193 (20-under par) after he shot a 65 (6-under par) in the third round.
