Actor Kangana Ranaut has sent a legal notice to Entertainment Journalists' Guild, demanding that the ban imposed on coverage of matters related to her be lifted within 24 hours. The Guild had boycotted Kangana Ranaut after she accused a journalist of "running a smear campaign" against her. Press Club of India had also backed the Guild’s decision to ban her.
The EJG had demanded an apology from Kangana for her remarks, but the actor has refused to give one. Instead, she called a section of the press ‘cheap freeloaders’ in a video posted on her team’s official Instagram account. Kangana’s remarks were described as ‘uncivilized, uncultured and unruly’ by the Press Club of India, which backed the Guild’s decision to ban her.
It all started when Kangana lashed out a Journalist at the song launch event for the movie 'Judgemental Hai Kya.' Kangana accused a journalist that he bashed her film 'Manikarnika' through his Twitter account. "Have I done anything wrong by making a film on nationalism?" She asked. "You called me a jingoistic woman who is making a film on nationalism,” she added. However, the journalist denied all the allegations and asked her to prove the accusations.
