Dehradun, July 5 (IANS) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Friday described the Union Budget as inclusive, growth-oriented and balanced.
Congratulating Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting her maiden budget, the Chief Minister said the budget would prepare the Indian economy to reach the five trillion dollars mark from three trillion dollars.
Besides various welfare schemes for the common people, the budget lays emphasis on infrastructure and industry. The focus of the budget is on villages, poor people and farmers, he said.
By giving Rs 3.5 lakh relief in interest on home loans up to Rs 45 lakh, the Finance Minister has also taken care of the middle class, Rawat said.
The government's resolve to develop 17 iconic destinations would surely give a boost to the tourism sector, he said.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat has criticised the centre for tampering with the labour laws which he said would adversely affect the interests of the workers.
"By converting 44 labour laws into just four will definitely jeopardise the interests of the labour class," he said while commenting on the budget.
