Panaji, June 28 (IANS) Four persons were arrested for arson and assault by the police on Friday, two days after they went on rampage in a bar in north Goa following a dispute over serving of a "finger bowl", police said on Friday.
According to police inspector in-charge of the Old Goa police station Jivba Dalvi, the violence occurred on June 26 and the accused were absconding since then.
"The accused had an argument with the staff of Wilsha bar located in Old Goa, because they were not served a finger-bowl after their meal. The accused took offence and came back, armed with sticks and damaged the interiors of the bar," Dalvi told reporters on Friday.
Out of the 12 accused, who were part of the violence, four were arrested on Friday. All of those arrested are residents of Mormugao sub-district in South Goa, the police official also said.A
Those arrested in connection with the crime are Limbaji Krishna Lamani,20, Pravin Jadhav,20, Maruti Lamani,29 and Pravin Chavan,22.A
The accused have been booked under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with weapon), 447 (criminal trespass), 427 (mischief), 324 (causing hurt with weapon), 504 (breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) (ii) of the 149 IPC.
