New Delhi, June 27 (IANS) Senior Congress leaders on Thursday met at the residence of party President Rahul Gandhi to discuss preparations for the Haryana assembly elections due in the next few months.
Senior leaders Ahmed Patel, Ghulam Nabi Azad, party general secretary K.C. Venugopal, Kumari Selja, former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former MP Deepender Singh Hooda, Haryana state unit chief Ashok Tanwar and Captain Ajay Yadav participated in the meeting.
The meeting lasted over two hours, party sources said.
Party communications and media in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, who belongs to Haryana, was absent from the meeting, the sources added.
After the meeting with the party chief, Deepender Singh Hooda said, "The leaders met to discuss the strategy for the Haryana assembly polls due in the next three months."
"We discussed how to strengthen the party in the state for a good show in the polls," Hooda said.
Party state unit chief Tanwar said that the roadmap for the assembly polls was discussed. "We are hopeful of a good show in the polls".
The Congress was wiped out in all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the recently concluded general election.
The party lost to the BJP in the state in 2014 assembly polls.
