Panaji, June 21 (IANS) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will accompany Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani to the village of Baraulia in Amethi on Saturday to pay a sympathy visit to the family of BJP worker and former village headman Surendra Singh, who was shot dead last month.
A spokesperson for the Goa Chief Minister's Office said Sawant who is already in Delhi to attend a pre-Budget consultation meeting of state finance ministers called by Union Minister for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman, will head for Amethi on Saturday morning with Irani.
"Our late Chief Minister and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had adopted the village when he was a Rajya Sabha MP. We will be visiting the adopted village and also meet the family of our BJP party worker who was killed. It will be a sympathy meeting at late Surendra Singh's home," the official said.
The Uttar Pradesh police have already arrested three suspects in connection with Singh's murder.
