Usually, it takes decades to construct an irrigation project. But 90% of Kaleshwaram Project had been completed by the Telangana government in nearly three and a half years only. Being considered as an engineering Marvel, this is said to be the largest lift irrigation project. In around 48 hours, the Kaleshwaram Project that had created many records during its construction is going to get inaugurated.

Since too many years, both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had water allocation issues. From its inception till now, KCR had always been behind this project taking personal care towards it. KCR himself redesigned this project with an aim to provide water to 40 lakh acres in Telangana.

This project is being constructed at Medigadda which happens to be situated at the juncture of Godavari and Pranahitha rivers.

By lifting water from here the water will be moved to Kondapochamma Sagar, which is above 618 meters. Rs 80000 crores is said to be the estimated cost for this project which has three barrages, 15 reservoirs, and 20 lifts. 1531 kilometers is the length of Kaleshwaram gravity canal and 203 kilometers is the length of tunnels.

Including these, a total of 82 pumps are there. Photo gallery consisting of photos taken at various phases of construction of the project is being set up at the project site by Telangana government.
